Project Scope

This project focused on value engineering to upgrade the product and reduce production costs. The product’s architecture and assembly was meticulously analysed. While the PCBs already utilized efficient snap-fit clips, opportunities to improve battery assembly was identified. This led to redesigning the existing four-part battery cap assembly into a more streamlined solution, eliminating one plastic cap, three screws, dedicated assembly tools, and an entire step from the production line. Additionally, the baseplate fitting was modified for a more generic design.

Battery secured in the detector housing by an injection moulded plastic cover using 3 self-tapping screws.

Battery secured the detector  housing using integrated snap-clips eliminating hardware, tools and labour time.
